The vehicle Hall was traveling in was attacked and he was wounded in the legs while Fox war zone photojournalist and Irish citizen Pierre Zakrzewski was killed in the incident in Horenka, Kyiv Oblast.
Three weeks after the attack, Hall reported that he had lost half of one leg, his foot on the other leg, suffered loss of function in one eye, damage to his hearing, and injuries to a hand. On January 26, 2023, he returned to live television with no feet, one fully workable hand, one fully working ear, one eye, and one leg.
