William Sanford Nye popularly known as Bill Nye the Science Guy, is an American mechanical engineer, science communicator, television presenter, and comedian. He is best known as the host of the science television show Bill Nye the Science Guy (1993-1999).
Nye worked as an engineer for the Boeing Corporation and Sundstrand Data Control near Seattle after graduation. He invented a hydraulic resonance suppressor tube used on Boeing 747 airplanes. In 1986, he left Boeing to pursue comedy writing and performing for the local Sketch television show Almost Live!
In 1993, Nye developed a new show Bill Nye the Science Guy, for the Seattle public broadcasting station KCTS-TV. The show ran till 1988 and was successful and one of the most-watched shows in the USA. Nye also is a renowned writer and has published several books such as The Science Guy. Bill appeared in a Netflix series, Bill Nye Saves the Word which premiered on April 21, 2017. He also appeared in, The End is Nye, a series ordered by Peacock in March 2021. Nye also has quite a number of media appearances including being the celebrity guest and interviewer at the White House Student Film Festival on February 28, 2014.
