Claudine Gay is an American academic administrator and political scientist who was the 30th and 1st black President of Havard University assuming office on July 1, 2023, until her resignation on January 2, 2024, amid plagiarism allegations in her academic work and not responding to antisemitism on campus.
Despite her resignation, Gay remains part of the faculty and the Wilbur A. Cowett Professor of Government and African-American Studies.
Before Gay became President of Havard University, she served as the Dean of Social Studies, and then the Edgerley Family Dean of the Harvard Faculty of Arts and Sciences.
