Knox began his career as an Agence France-Presse desk editor and worked as a congressional and White House correspondent for 15 years. In 2012, he joined Yahoo news as the network’s first White House correspondent and later became its chief Washington correspondent.
In 2018, he was named the new chief Washington correspondent for SiriusXM, and later the same year he was elected president of the White House Correspondents’ Association till 2019.
He is best known for his reboot of the White House Correspondents Dinner in 2019 into its original format, which saw the elimination of having a comedian as the featured speaker and an absence of A-list celebrities at the event.
On January 5, 2021, Knox was hired by The Washington Post to anchor The Daily 202.
