Yamiche Léone Alcindor is a Haitian- American journalist who is the host of Washington Week on PBS and a Washington correspondent for NBC News.  Alcindor mainly writes about politics and social issues.

Alcindor started her career as a reporter at Newsday, a newspaper based in Melville, New York. She worked there for two years till she became a multimedia reporter for USA Today based in New York in December 2011 to cover national breaking news. In 2013,  She was named “Emerging Journalist of the Year” by the National Association of Black Journalists.

In 2015, she left USA Today and worked as a national political reporter for The New York Times. Here she appeared in the 2018 television series The Fourth Estate about Times staff covering the first 100 days of the Trump presidency. She was nominated for a Shorty Award in the Journalist category in 2016. The following year she won an award in a tribute to journalist Gwen Ifill who had died in November 2016, at the Syracuse University’s Toner Prize ceremony.

Alcindor was later named White House correspondent of the PBS NewsHour in January 2018. Alcindor received the 2020 Aldo Beckman Award for Overall Excellence in White House Coverage from the White House Correspondents’ Association. Alcindor was named the new moderator of Washington Week in May 2021. Alcindor left PBS Newshour in January 2022 and was hired by NBC News as a Washington correspondent.
